What is a Level 2 heatwave warning?

There is currently a Level 2 heatwave alert in Devon. This means there is more than a 60% chance of temperatures being higher than normal. It will be hottest between 11am and 3pm.

It's important to listen out for advice during these alerts, particularly if you are someone with a higher risk of being affected by high temperatures, so you can prepare for the weather.

How to keep children safe

Children are at a higher risk during hot weather and may be more affected by the heat.

The best ways to keep cool are to wear loose, cotton clothes and to drink plenty of water.

Prams shouldn't be covered with heavy blankets as these will raise the temperature too much.

Make sure children have sunscreen on. The label should have a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 and be at least four-star UVA protection.
